Ashmanhaugh Miniature Light Railway

Ashmanhaugh Light RailwayAn additional source of enjoyment at East View Farm Holiday Cottages is Ashmanhaugh Light Railway.

This is a private 7¼ inch gauge railway set in the fields behind the holiday cottages and run by a group of amateur enthusiasts. It was begun in 2002 and now has three circuits of track, a signal box, platform, carriage shed, ticket office, and a wildlife pond surrounded by wildflowers.

They hold six Open Days each year: on the first Sunday in the month from May until October from 2.00pm to 5.00 pm (weather permitting).

There are steam, diesel and electric trains to ride and refreshments too. They also hold children's birthday parties, and, if you are looking for a different kind of present, how about a steam driving course? The ALR team are often there on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so you may get a ride on a train if you are lucky!

For further information, please visit www.ashmanhaughlightrailway.co.uk.

Besides Ashmanhaugh, we are lucky to have more great railways to visit close by:
